Camping
We went camping for the first time with Luca this last Friday night. We also got to go with two other families that live in West Seattle. There were 3 two year old boys, a 1 year old boy and a baby girl. It was fun for Luca to get to hang out with the boys. Luca roasted and ate his first hot dog and marshmallow. He also loved picking up and playing with sticks. Luca slept well in his pack in play in his tent. He did fall over a lot which was sad but not too surprising. I think we will bring his helmet next time.
We camped near a river which was beautiful and had a fantastic time. Luca feel alsleep at 11 am Sat morning before we even drove out of the campground parking lot. And slept the whole drive home. I am so glad we got to go camping! Thank you Lees and Hawkins for organizing it!

summer yard
The poppy's are out and now this is what our front yard looks like. Luca loves playing in the grass. I can't say summer has really started around here yet. We are all very anxious to see more of the sunshine. It has been one cold and cloudy spring! It was nice yesterday. Hopefully more summer days will come soon....
Monkeys jumping on the bed
Luca heard the story about the 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed, one fell off and bonked her head, mama called the doctor and the doctor said, "no more monkeys jumping on the bed."
Luca like to repeat this story over and over but in his version (which he came up with all on his own) it goes, 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed, one fell down and broke her head, mama called Dr. Mosca and Dr. Mosca said, "no more monkeys jumping on the bed."
The first time John and I heard the Dr. Mosca versions we almost fell over laughing saying, "did you teach him that?" we both hadn't and it is hilarious, Luca thinks, I know a doctor, it is my orthopedic surgeon and he would probably tell those monkeys to stop jumping on the bed.
Luca keeps us laughing everyday! He is so funny! He also hasn't seen Dr. Mosca in a few months but he has not forgotten him.

"weekend away"
John and I got a few days away this week, Mon-Wed. We went to our friend's cabin by Mount Rainer. It was relaxing, getting to sleep in, hiking, reading, watching movies, and cooking together! Here are a few pictures from one of the waterfall hikes we went on. Luca had a great time with my parents. We came home and he was in the sandbox. He looked up and said, "oh, hi mom." No big deal. But he hasn't let me out of his sight since we got back either:)
I told him that Popeye and Nana were going on a big airplane to go visit Aunt Betsy. Luca said, "I go with and stay at Aunt Betsy's house."

1/2 Marathon
Mari and I had great time running the 1/2 marathon + 1 mile= 14.2 miles! It was a beautiful run around Lake Timothy in Oregon! We drove down to Portland on Friday, spent the night at our friend, Andrew David's parents house and then drove 78 miles into the wilderness on Sat. morning. The race started at 10 am. There were 300 runners on a single track trail. The trail was rocky, rooty and had lots of twists and turns. I found out that a trail run definitely works different muscles and was very different then a road race! My legs were very sore by the last few miles! The views of the lake, and Mt. Hood were absolutely stunning! Mari, when are we doing our next one? :)
PS We took the running shots after the 1/2 was over and we had changed into our flip-flops.

Betsy and Sophia
We were so lucky to get to have Betsy and Sophia visit us for a WEEK! Sophia is a sweet baby, we loved getting know her better and spending time with Betsy. Thanks again for making the trip out to Seattle, Betsy! We also got to celebrate a late Mother's Day together, Betsy, my mom and I which was a special time at the tea place.
