new haircut

I got my haircut on Sat. Only 27 bucks. (Westside Barbar in West Seattle- I recommend it) It just felt like time to take 6 inches off. My hair hasn't been this short since high school and it is kind of fun to have a change.

The back room

While the kitchen is done, beautiful and very functional, the back room is still under construction. Just in case you were wondering what we were doing with all of our new found free time- John has been working on rebuilding the fireplace and back wall. And what a lot of work it is too! Laying bricks is not a piece of cake at all. You can see the great column on the right which John is working on with the new bricks.

Look who is talking!

Luca is officially talking and hopefully a video to prove it will come soon when Luca wakes up for his nap if he will perform:)

It is so fun to hear him talk all day long. When he is not saying words he is just making lots of happy noises and laughing. Sometimes I hear him in his room, by himself, just laughing. I wish he could tell me what is so funny.

The joys of being home owners

Here are a few of my favorite things are being home owners:
1. We can destroy and rebuild our house as much as we want with out having to ask permission from the landlords
2. We don't have landlords!!!
3. We have land to garden, hang out, relax in, and enjoy!
4. We have beautiful flowers and can always a "free" bouquet on the kitchen table.
5. We are getting to know our neighbors and enjoying the sense of community in the neighborhood

Kitchen compete

It is amazing! The kitchen is done and looks beautiful! We are all happy and excited to use it. John made a wonderful salmon dinner last night to celebrate and try out the new oven! Yum!

The bath

Luca loves to say dada. Luca also asks for him all day while John is at work. He thinks it is very funny to say dada when asked to say mama (or dada). He can say mama too just not on command. I think he and his cousin Annie have a similar sense of humor:)

The Aquarium

Yesterday, Monica, Lily, Jess, Layna, Luca and I went to the aquarium. Luca loved looking at the fish and scooting around. It was a lot of fun, but hard to take pictures of toddlers as they are always on the go.

In hopes for summer

To all of those Luca blog followers we are hoping for some summer around here and changed the background of the blog for the summer. Hope you are all having a great start to your summers and enjoying the sunshine!

Baby Scarlett is getting big and is really adorable. Luca got to hang out with her a little bit yesterday while Alicia and I were planting veggies. It was the first sunny day in MANY here in Seattle. I think the whole city was outside.

Luca was pretty happy about having Layna over this afternoon! First they enjoyed the toy computer together then Luca thought....I think I will just make my way over to the real one while mom is taking pictures. They were both glad to have their own.
